Every day our multiple media outlets overload us with a wide range of opinions on nearly every conceivable issue on the national and international scene. From Obama to Ebola, from ISIS to the economy, from sodomite “marriage” to gun control there appears to be no end to the deception and confusion indiscriminately sown through the vain opinions of men.
The great preacher of yesteryear, John Wesley, said, “I am sick and tired of opinions of every sort.” Aren’t we all?
We are on dangerous ground when the opinions of deceivers are given far more attention and credence than the truth. In such a sad condition, there is no end to the destruction that will follow in our personal and national lives.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12
Avoiding, exposing and reproving the “unfruitful works of darkness” (Ephesians 5:11) is God’s mandate for all true believers in Jesus Christ—and especially for those called by God to leadership positions. Praise God for the all too few warriors who have the spiritual insight, integrity and courage to prophetically pierce through the lying veneers of human opinion. Whether in the political, social, economic, educational or religious spheres, they are clearly exposing the lies of the enemy and applying the truth of the Word of God.
Only the truth can set us free (John 8:31-32).
Opinions never can and never will.
There is no genuine hope for our nation in the White House, the state house, the school house or the court house. Our hope is in God’s house—the body of His redeemed ones. God’s house is where our greatest problems are. It is also where our best solutions reside as well.
For what will it profit our nation of we get back to following the Constitution, choose righteous leaders, repeal all bad laws and legislate good ones, establish a consistently robust economy, pay off our national end, end all wars…and lose our souls in the end?
Those of us who claim to have placed our total trust in the Lord Jesus Christ—His cross, His blood, His resurrection, His righteousness and His Word —have got to get right, and stay right, with Him in every area of our lives. We are the ones to live, pray, speak and lead in the way of righteousness and truth. The time to do it with full force is now!
Our nation continues on a runaway spree of flagrant sin against our holy, almighty and loving God. Only Jesus Christ, who is “the way, the truth, and the life,” (John 14:6) can transform human beings from the inside out. Jesus Christ poured out His lifeblood on a cruel Roman cross to free us from the lies of Satan and the power of sin. He remains the only hope for you and me and for all mankind. That is the absolute truth. It’s not a matter of opinion!Share
